The Digital Hermits Cave

This is where I go when I don’t care about the word and the consequences of my thoughts. This is me digging my own reality tunnels in both virtual and psychographic space.

The hermit used to disappear into the wilderness to find enlightenment. To live without interaction with others, so that his thoughts and intentions were not being changed by his interactions with the world of culture. He was not withdrawing from the ‘real world’ at all, just the illusory one that we call civilization, and all of the games that go along with it.

He didn’t want to be around with people because each were meme spreading machines, spewing forth contagious pathogens of ideas with every sentence. Hermits wanted to connect to the pure source of thought, the natural arising that occurs in our brains when the memes have nothing else to feed on, and no help of being spread across to another host. It is the ideas inside us that drive us towards doing things we don’t want to do, and propagating the civilization that we know is killing the natural world. The hermit lives right there in that natural world.

The veil has been dropped, and he is now truly alive, purging each mind virus (and there would be many) as they spring to the surface. Every story when the hero goes away from the tribe/people, off into the wilderness to ‘conquer his demons’ or an externalised source. That is this story. He conquers that inside himself (the bullshit memes that control most of us) which has control of everyone else, and at that instant is transformed into something other. Someone who can look the beasts in the face and know that they have no power of him. It’s not only your traditional heroes that follow this narrative. Jesus and Buddha, to name two of millions over time that have walked this path were also prime examples. The conquered the inner chatter, the temptation to follow the script that life had given them and instead starting freeing others to see that they could write their own destiny, or at the very least write their own memes as well (like the eight fold path) into their consciousness.

Things like the eight fold path or the golden rule of the early Christians are like antivirus software for the mind. The allow checks to be made so that runaway memetic forces can’t get hold and take people over.

So any way… this is my digital hermits cave. Look at the paintings I make on the wall. They may make sense to you, they may not. Look at the shiny adsense temptations that I dangle before the unwary. This is a cave of wonders and secrets. It’s the place where it all spills out. It’s my psycho geography, muse and experience of the mystery all tied in one.

It is a place without consequence. Here I am lord and master. I can do as I want. The memes can’t get me here

XML. Sitemap not updating

The XML sitemap plugin on this site is not updating by itself for some reason. It started a few weeks ago, when I realized that the reason the page was getting such bad SEO rankings was that the sitemap was 6 months old.

Imagine that. It had just come out of sandbox he’ll, started to build up some great page rank and then nothing.

I will have to reinstall the plugin ( that I have been relying on for years) and see if that fixes the issue.

Having an xml sitemap , and regularly submitting it go the major engines is a very important SEO step. It makes it easier for the site to be indexed. I have found it really useful for getting long tail posts indexed for the phrase in the page title.

Does anyone have any good recommendations for wordpress plugins

A New about page for the site – New Direction

This site is all about my exploration on the nature of reality, human civilization and consciousnesses. Here is just a random sample of  some of the things you might find me talking about here.

  • How do we know the things we know.  What is the direction of modern science? What are some of the more fascinating viewpoints and theories that are currently being discovered? What is my opinion on this.
  • What role does the ideas of information theory have on areas such as consciousness, genetics, time, consciousness and the fabric of reality
  • How is our understanding changing about topics such as UFO’s, Aliens, Shamanism, The Occult, meditative spiritual practice, psychedelics, ghosts, cryptozoology. Why is there so much overlap between these subjects? What are the commonalities and differences.
  • Why is there such a wide range of paranormal entities encountered and described. Why are there very few set ‘types’.
  • Is there a connection between ceremonial magick ’summoned’ entities and modern spontaneously encountered entities.
  • What is the role of the signal and noise principal in enlightenment and understanding of reality.

Some notable thinkers whose views that I will pick apart and discuss at some stage will be Ken Wilbur, Krishnamurti, Robert Anton Wilson, Terence Mckenna, Jacques Vallee, Gurdjeff, Jed Mckenna, buddhist texts, vedanta texts, tarot symbolism, occult books and libers.

I won’t claim to come up with any answers at all, and I will relate some of my experiences along the way. All we can be at best is mirrors pointing towards the truth. The real truth is the eternal spiritual mystery, the no-thing at the center of all things.

Oh yeah, and I am always up for a chat via email at info (at) informationreality (dot) com

The modern subconscious is a deep ocean to fish

The modern subconscious has been so filled up with media, conditioning, schooling, parenting and working that it must be one of the most dense information stores in the history of the universe. The thing is that we are not really provided with any nets or fishing gear at the moment (that’s what shamans etc were good for), and the things found in its murky depths are not taken to be of any value.

By looking into sources of information noise, such as random wikipedia sources (method) and looking within yourself, you stir these waters and can see thoughts as the arise to the surface from the pressurized depths. These strange creatures are the whole basis for our civilization, culture.

This is a great tool to explore your own inner and outer reality.

Its just like tarot cards. They are just symbols on a page, with no actual absolute value. The interpretation of each card changes from person to person, even in subtle ways. The literal meaning of the cards is not the important bit. How these random media work is that they stir the mind in unexpected and unpredicted ways, and allow fresh insights to emerge. Signal from noise.

This is a representation of Googles Relevance Engine

I found this image searching on the word Knowledgesphere, one of the tags that i have on this here blog. It jogged my memory  in relation to my last post, about how Google is always searching for relevance in its search listings and adwords ads that it serves up.

The zombies rising from the grave are the old, dead and completely irrelevant pages that are coming up in peoples searches. Google sees itself like necromancer or mage with the glowing green magick coming out of its hands, vanquishing these undead denizens of information before they tie you up and waste your time. Perhaps like this page :)

Terrence Mckenna – No One Is Smarter Than Anyone Else

All anyone has is the value of their direct experience of the world. Everything else is just heresay and speculation. Go out and find your own answers, and walk your own path. Everything that there is to be known about the universe has not already been thought of. Give us your unique spin, your angle that makes the light reflect of everything a little differently.

The Violence Of Plants

WE think plants are gentle, peaceful entities. But really they are not. Looking out at my vegetable patch, i can see a bitter life or death struggle occurring on a daily basis.

Weeds constantly try to take over the space and get higher than the small eggplant and tomato seedlings i have there, and steal their sunlight and their nutrients.

It is a dog eat dog, or maybe I should say, plant starve plant world out there, where the most ruthless and adaptive always seem to come out on top over the smaller, weaker and more set in their domesticated ways others.

Even in a stable ecosystem these battles are continuously raging on, however the net result of the losses and victories between different species even out and a lot of species co-exist in the same space without taking over all of the available resources.

Its All About Finding The Others

This blog is all about finding the others really.

If anything on this blog resonates with you, please send me an email at steve@informationreality.com, or follow the inforeality twitter account or some other such thing. We need to start the dialogue and building some new and original plans, models and forecasts of how the world is changing, and what pieces of the puzzle we can be in the grand scheme of things.

When I say piece of the puzzle, i really mean what part you will play in the story of the continuation and learning of humanity and the universe. It doesn’t matter if you don’t play a part in working for your country, or serving the national interest, or being a good citizen.

I mean look deep into yourself, into your true self and hear the voice inside that want to get out, and listen to what that aspect of yourself wants to do. That is what you are here to achieve. Everything else is just a funny play put on by bad actors.

Terrence Mckenna used to say, when people asked him what they should do with their insights from entheogenic or spiritual transformation, “find the others.” In groups ideas have the medium they need to evolve and compete.

Stupid Evolving Internet Marketing

A good idea for a domain like this is to just pump it full of content, just write and write exclusive content, that is say things in a novel way that haven’t been said before to attract traffic. Make a whole heap of social media profiles where you just spout the same random gibberish, and get it propogated as far as possible via rss across the internet.

Dont worry about

  • building an audience
  • building a list
  • building a personal profile
  • Be the antithesis of all of that, and just get mountains of content out there are as quickly as possible. It would be interesting to see what the time difference / payoff equation came out equaling when you compared this to a more “by the book” internet marketing approach that i normally follow.

Just create stupid sites, which evolve over time to be content rich domains with heaps of monetisation things all over them. Like every third post should be about an affiliate product, and then the few around it should be about the same subject. All of the posts should take a maximum of five minutes to write, and have around 400 words minimum. Try to seo and keyword write them to some degree if you can.

What the aim of this is to create a clientless, prdouctless, business less way to create ongoing income via the web that may be done anywhere

Wikipedia Content Creation System

The main way of writing this blog is by hunting down random wikipedia articles, and then streaming out my thoughts on the subject and giving it the best SEO tags that i can find.

To do this I use the following tool

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Randompageset

Worpdress Tag suggest Thing
Wordpress all in one SEO

By doing this, i can get articles indexed on this page in a matter of an hour, getting to the top of google for the query string that is the article title.

It is my hypothesis that if i do this long enough, there will be a long chain of results that will result in some form of passive adsense income. It is also a great way to get ideas flowing as it gives your mind 100% free reign to write about anything that comes to mind.
