Rabelais, Crowley and Thelema

Interesting results today from a random wikipedia hit. I thought I would test the internetmancy waters once more, and the first result I got was for Francois Rabelais.

His wikipedia entry came up, and I thought this is interesting, a 14th century French monk and literary figure. As I read down something tweaked in my mind, and a google search confirmed.

Rabelius is the guy who first used the term Thelema , and had a protypical Abbey of Thelema in his writings. Crowley got the basis of thelema, and the abbey concept straight from reading Rabelius. Not from some musty tome of archane law, or entities or even a sudden flash of insight.

He just read it. Though that it’s ‘do what thou wilt’ philosophy and utopian vision sounded cool, and used it as the basis for his new ‘religion’

Rabelais used the thelema ideas in his novels, which were very controversial in 15th century France.

The synchronicity of that random wikipedia page is amazing. I had just been listening to the latest paracast where the listener/host was talking about his experience with chaos magick, and also with crowley. This is a really strong message.

Aliester Crowley was just a person, like you and I. He was flawed, and his ideas cane to him from the universe, just like yours do to you.

I believe his controversial behavior was modeled somewhat on the actions of Rabelius also.

Another amazing internetmatcy session

The Digital Hermits Cave

This is where I go when I don’t care about the word and the consequences of my thoughts. This is me digging my own reality tunnels in both virtual and psychographic space.

The hermit used to disappear into the wilderness to find enlightenment. To live without interaction with others, so that his thoughts and intentions were not being changed by his interactions with the world of culture. He was not withdrawing from the ‘real world’ at all, just the illusory one that we call civilization, and all of the games that go along with it.

He didn’t want to be around with people because each were meme spreading machines, spewing forth contagious pathogens of ideas with every sentence. Hermits wanted to connect to the pure source of thought, the natural arising that occurs in our brains when the memes have nothing else to feed on, and no help of being spread across to another host. It is the ideas inside us that drive us towards doing things we don’t want to do, and propagating the civilization that we know is killing the natural world. The hermit lives right there in that natural world.

The veil has been dropped, and he is now truly alive, purging each mind virus (and there would be many) as they spring to the surface. Every story when the hero goes away from the tribe/people, off into the wilderness to ‘conquer his demons’ or an externalised source. That is this story. He conquers that inside himself (the bullshit memes that control most of us) which has control of everyone else, and at that instant is transformed into something other. Someone who can look the beasts in the face and know that they have no power of him. It’s not only your traditional heroes that follow this narrative. Jesus and Buddha, to name two of millions over time that have walked this path were also prime examples. The conquered the inner chatter, the temptation to follow the script that life had given them and instead starting freeing others to see that they could write their own destiny, or at the very least write their own memes as well (like the eight fold path) into their consciousness.

Things like the eight fold path or the golden rule of the early Christians are like antivirus software for the mind. The allow checks to be made so that runaway memetic forces can’t get hold and take people over.

So any way… this is my digital hermits cave. Look at the paintings I make on the wall. They may make sense to you, they may not. Look at the shiny adsense temptations that I dangle before the unwary. This is a cave of wonders and secrets. It’s the place where it all spills out. It’s my psycho geography, muse and experience of the mystery all tied in one.

It is a place without consequence. Here I am lord and master. I can do as I want. The memes can’t get me here

Ancient names of constelations

We tend to think of constelations in the night sky as those of the major zodiac, and then s few select others such as Orion or the southern cross.

But when you really study it, there are hundreds of constellations with names that have been carried down from at least roman and Greek times.

Look into these constelation names via wikipedia searches and you can get a facinatinv insight into ancient mythology, and find some of the lesser known myths and deities from these cultures

Eridanus for example was the first I just found, and is a constelation of the south. It symbolised s river to the Greeks with the same name, and also a river that souls traversed in the heavens.

Run these constelations through cooliris or google image seach and you start to get dome strange syncronistic and interesting image results, and they can be a great source of random noise.

I plan to make these searches more a feature of the content generation strategy for this site

Internetmancy Means Scrying Via The Internet

Looks like someone found the site via the term Internetmancy, which is a term that popped into my head to describe the process of finding something random online to answer to a question that you have in your head, or just as something to spark the creative process.

By pulling up something completely random, you introduce an element into your thought process that was not there before, and this disrupts your current cycles of thinking, allowing fresh new ideas to come to the surface.

The main advantage that this has over traditional random/divination/scrying methods is that this is brings in ideas from the whole spectrum of the human society. Its like scrying into the collective conciousness of humanity. It brings you knowledge that you could not know before via any other means. Things that you would never search for, and that your social media circles would never tell you about.

I am ranking top for searches for Internetmancy, so looks like I just coined a new term!

The modern subconscious is a deep ocean to fish

The modern subconscious has been so filled up with media, conditioning, schooling, parenting and working that it must be one of the most dense information stores in the history of the universe. The thing is that we are not really provided with any nets or fishing gear at the moment (that’s what shamans etc were good for), and the things found in its murky depths are not taken to be of any value.

By looking into sources of information noise, such as random wikipedia sources (method) and looking within yourself, you stir these waters and can see thoughts as the arise to the surface from the pressurized depths. These strange creatures are the whole basis for our civilization, culture.

This is a great tool to explore your own inner and outer reality.

Its just like tarot cards. They are just symbols on a page, with no actual absolute value. The interpretation of each card changes from person to person, even in subtle ways. The literal meaning of the cards is not the important bit. How these random media work is that they stir the mind in unexpected and unpredicted ways, and allow fresh insights to emerge. Signal from noise.

Internetmancy Shamanistic Scrying

Here is the method for those of you that want to play along at home :

1. Get random information noise from the internet. There are now some great services out there online that will give you something TOTALLY random, be it some text, a picture or a video. The scryers and card readers of old would go crazy if they had power like that

2.Feed that random search back through some more random generators. Put the random seed through another set of filters, such as google image ripper, or even a straight google / wikipedia search to get some more background to the concept that you have uncovered.

3. Reflect on what this random noise drags up from your mind. Think, remember and start to take notes.

4. Write down the thoughts that have been agitated to the surface from this random intake of information

There is also another step at the very start, if you want to take the divination part a bit further.. Ask a question before you begin

The incentive is to keep on posting

I suppose the incentive is to keep on posting and build up the SEO juice here. I mean, each of these posts takes about 5 minutes to write, SEO, tag and submit to social media via a whole set of wordpress magick that goes along with it in the background.

I am just about to install a translator plugin as well, that will pump this baby out in 12 different languages and spread the word even further.

So i am just going to keep on posting, keyword mining and spreading the net

25% of All Google Searches are NEW

To me this figure is partial proof for some of the concepts that I have been developing over the past few years. It is staggering to think that 25% of queries that google sees on a daily basis are things that have NEVER been searched for before.

Or, more exactly, they are things that have never been searched for before in that way.

Where is this information, this new form of questions coming from. Where are they appearing in people’s minds. This difference in search volume could be thought of as search ‘noise’. It will appear in googles keyword stats, and then people who are in the know will start to create content to specificly match these queries. It is digital evolution.

These new search queries are turning up spontaneously in the minds of people, and represent a change in the evolution of the meme-sphere of the planet, the sum total of the direction of thoughts of all people. So where does this NEW though come from.

Is there something in consciousness that is connected to a source of “thought noise.”? I posit that there is a force that ensures that peoples thoughts are not linear and only contain things that they have seen before, but instead mix up and create new synergies, as well as unexpected mutations of the contents of their minds.

Signal To Noise Ratio is Reality

Everything that you experience in your life can be applied to the information theory idea of signal to noise.

There is a message in everything if you look hard enough, and everything is just nonsense as well. The whole of reality is some crazy zen koan that no-one gets, but everyone is constantly trying to figure out.

Knowledge is the all powerful, all controling force of the universe, but no one really knows where it comes from. It kind of just springs out of nowhere really. Everything just emerges from a source and becomes “real” when we give it a meaning.

On the surface reality looks very solid, very 3D. But there are many overlying dimensions, some of which probably exist only in the minds of men i must say, but none the less they are dimensions which interact and have a massive impact on the physical reality.

All through history there has been this huge interplay between the signal and the noise. Between the Ying and the Yang, Chaos and Order… you know the rest.

It is a constant interplay between knowing and unknowing. Between having the answer, and realizing that in reality, you know nothing at all about what is going on. Everytime in history that people think that they have the final answer, something has always happened to show them that they in fact were quite wrong.
And this is good. This is the evolution of the knowledge sphere, the noosphere or whatever you want to call it.

Take for instance the idea of magick. I mean real magick, performed by occultists.. Do you think its real? Maybe it is, maybe it isn’t. Probably doesn’t even really matter. What does matter is that the ideas developed in it have had a profound evolving impact on Science, Art, Culture, Music, Literature, History, Psychology and 100 other disciplines at least.

Reality is fiction, and fiction is reality. It is another constant interplay, a flux of meaning and nonsense.

Letting The Flow Go

The whole thing with this form of stream of conciousness writing is that it is very quick and easy to generate content.

LETS GET SPOOKY

It is a bit like channeling really, you just put the hands on the keyboard and go for it, just start dictating the voice of you concious thought and see where it leads. It is a great way to generate content for a blog like this.

I just made a pact with myself that I would continue to write, no matter what the subject and see what the result was, and if it came to any kind of meaningful time / money equation.

The key to life is to be as open as possible, and to let the music out. Dont keep the music inside, just let it out to talk and interact with the universe at large.

Let go with the flow.

I have the idea that if I have enough snippets like this, I can just start threading them together into larger articles for some of my other projects.

Also , i just want to declare the public goal of getting one adsense click or affiliate sale. I can grow this exponentially from there.

Peace out flowsters
