This place not yet abanndoned

Ok, I have big plans in store for this domain over the next few weeks. There is so much interesting information out there that needs to be shared, talked about, encouraged and expressed.

Have been tweeting a lot of thoughts lately, so if you are interested go and check out http://www.twitter.com/inforeality

It is so hard not to speak about things like consciousness and the nature of reality without sounding massively new age. That is not my intention. At all.

So when I say that we are on the edge of an age where Quantum Physics , Consciousness Studies, Genetics, Information Theory and what would have once been termed The Paranormal, Shamanism, as well as Buddhist thought, Occult theory and the insights gained via psychedelics will all converge, and we begin to see the similarities between these areas. I can see them, and so can a lot of other people. It’s just quite hard to put it into words. Well at least words that are not just empty rehashes of the same old theories.

I mean words that can be used, expanded on. Tested and poked and prodded. Shaken until more truth drops from them.

From the history of man people have speculated on the nature of reality and conciousness, they just have not had the language or conceptual framework to make any sense out of it. For instance, say that reality behaved in much the same way as computer software. It is only in this present age that we would begin to be able to grasp this in any percievable way. Before that it would be very vauge analogies and wild metaphors which would serve as explanations.

Tuning To The Random Message

My random internet divination / scrying came up with a very surprising result last night. The first push of the random Wikipedia button bought up a radio station that the headquarters is situated about 200 meters from my house.

In fact, I would say that it is the closest physical thing on wikipedia to my location when I pushed the button.

What are the chances of that happening.. One in a billion?  Seriosuly, that was a very spooky result to get back.

Still reeling from that, I pushed the random button again, and came up with this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ruber

Some  cartoon character, nothing very synchronistic about that.

However

I then placed the answer into the Google Image Ripper, and came up with this.

There is a strange story about a fungus that looks like that.

Last year I pulled into the driveway and saw a strange red shape next to my fishpond. I had no idea what it was, and as I approached it I saw that it was a weird, red crinkly looking thing. It was one of these exact fungus. The first time that I had ever seen one was at that time, and it was virtually next to my front door. I have never seen one before in the local area (near Melbourne Australia), and have not seen one since.

So we have a massive change of synchronistic events here, meaningful to me, probably not to anyone reading this. I have a bit of a theory about all of this.

By encouraging the random function to play in your life, you bring the probability of available synchronicities up to a higher level. By completely opening yourself up to just surf the random data streams that come to us on the web, to follow the results of some random process, you give up control and let the universe talk directly to you.

Some people think that massively synchronistic events like these are an indicator by the universe that you are on the right path. I think that I have to agree with that hypothesis at the moment.

Also, by letting some random noise into the normally ordered nature of your life and thoughts, you open yourself up to evolve your consciousness, and just to learn and consider things you wouldn’t normally.

So what is the message? Tune to the frequency of the fungus. To look for the strange differences that present themselves in life?

Buddha Routes The System

For a message to be understood from any source of information, first you must have the algorithm/filter to uncompress, translate or understand it. You must have a pre-defined understanding, like know the language, or the symbol set used, in order interpret the reality in front of you in the right context.

For the full understanding to arise you must uncompress the concept held in the words, symbols or data

The Buddha talks of nirvana as an uncompressed reality, and a unity of all consciousness. The Buddha obtained this state is by shutting down the external Inputs and Outputs to your consciousness. Block out all the data that is possible coming in to be processed. Once that is achieved, starts to look for something else to process. It works over its backlog of thoughts and starts to bring things to the surface.

The Buddha would then start to shut down the internal Inputs/Outputs’ between the minds internal systems. Not identify with any of the thoughts, see each arising and departing separately. The internal thought filters that you use start to fall away, and  you start to get a sense of the whole system as one thing.

Perhaps this nirvana is seeing the whole stream of data as one indefinable chunk. Of not labeling internal or external, of just living a pure, undifferentiated, unlabelled experience (or at least having a living comprehension of this idea). An un-compressed, unfiltered view of reality.

Terrence Mckenna – No One Is Smarter Than Anyone Else

All anyone has is the value of their direct experience of the world. Everything else is just heresay and speculation. Go out and find your own answers, and walk your own path. Everything that there is to be known about the universe has not already been thought of. Give us your unique spin, your angle that makes the light reflect of everything a little differently.

Unquantifiable Thinking – Values And Definitions Of Reality

I wrote briefly in one of my previous posts about the idea of an unquantifiable reality.

The idea comes from the fact that our mind constantly narrows the stream of input it receives down to conceptions, definitions, and categories.

It allows our mind to manage the massive complexity of modern life, make predictions, decisions and inferences about what is currently happening. We have evolved this way for a specific purpose, and humans have been doing it back when we all lived in caves or the wild grassland of prehistory.

Our minds treat objects not as they are, but as abstract categories of things. Men are treated with a certain subset of behaviours, women with another. We treat all physical objects as if they are the idea and not the thing. Bowls are treated all the same, as are knives, or fridges, or televisions.

But really I think that life is at a base level unquantifiable. All things seek to transcend their definition, and concrete descriptions break down when you turn up the resolution, and look at life in wider or closer detail. The harder you study what defines a certain thing, the more you see the diversity within the category it is contained within.

It’s a hard concept to  get our minds around, but our every thoughts about a certain thing are not about the real things themselves, but about our internal concept of what that thing is.

The rise of modern civilization and capitalist systems depend on people working like this, because when you can quantify a thing, person or place, it allows you to put a hard value on it.

What price can be put on an hour of your life, or a finite resource like oil or water quality which is the common good of all. What price can be put on the land inhabited by a people for thousands of years, and their culture? It would be impossible to do without a narrowly defined value placed on it, by maiing quantities out of things that should be free.

It just can’t be done unless the quantisation is taken to the extreme levels we see today, where everything is a commodity, and there can be decisions made.

Internetmancy Shamanistic Scrying

Here is the method for those of you that want to play along at home :

1. Get random information noise from the internet. There are now some great services out there online that will give you something TOTALLY random, be it some text, a picture or a video. The scryers and card readers of old would go crazy if they had power like that

2.Feed that random search back through some more random generators. Put the random seed through another set of filters, such as google image ripper, or even a straight google / wikipedia search to get some more background to the concept that you have uncovered.

3. Reflect on what this random noise drags up from your mind. Think, remember and start to take notes.

4. Write down the thoughts that have been agitated to the surface from this random intake of information

There is also another step at the very start, if you want to take the divination part a bit further.. Ask a question before you begin

The Internet as Distraction From The End Times

I just read an interesting tweet which was espousing the idea that the internet could be the cause of distraction that stops people seeing and believing the collapse of the current system.
This could be true, as it is very easy for modern people to get into a headspace where what is happening in the physical world is of only secondary consequence to what is happening to them online.

The physical world is starting to be seen as a substrate that gives you interesting things to tweet about and take photos off to put onto flickr.

I agree with the statement, but i also see the other important uses for the internet in the coming months and years. The internet is the greatest source of randomness and noise that we have ever seen. With tools such as StumbleUpon, or twitter or just a simple Google search (who would have thought 15 years ago that something like a search on a thing like Google could be considered simple) and you can be exposed to ideas, thoughts and concepts that you have never even dreamed of before.

The internet introduces a level of noise into the closed system of your consciousness, and gives an exposure to higher dimensions of information (larger world view, more educated view of the world). These new mental building blocks, when arranged in minds that have a greater understanding of the big picture and the part that they play in it, will be the seeds for whatever people build after these current systems have collapsed

Damaged Minds, Damaged Earth

I was just thinking today that one of the reasons that human society is on such shaky ground is that we really don’t care how much damage the current system does to the mental space of people.

Depending on who and how much you read, modern life is screwing us all up to a small or a large degree, making us all dependent, semi psychopathic, despondent and depressed. This is only taking into account those of us lucky enough to be in developed, western countries. For people in the third world, or currently suffering through war or extreme poverty i can only barely imagine the day to day stresses that it places on man, woman and child.

People broken inside are not going to be thinking for ways to turn the system around, to build a better world for their children and start caring for the physical space around them. No, they are most likely to be looking at ways to drown out the nagging voice inside them telling them they are wasting their lives, or consuming more and more to feel like they are winning a game of which there are only losers.

We have to realise that the total health of all of our personal mental realms is just as important and valid as the physical realm we all live in. To build a different system, one that we will need when this endless cycle of growth and consumerism has reached its limit (very soon) we need everyone to know the unlimited potential that we as humanity hold.

Its All About Finding The Others

This blog is all about finding the others really.

If anything on this blog resonates with you, please send me an email at steve@informationreality.com, or follow the inforeality twitter account or some other such thing. We need to start the dialogue and building some new and original plans, models and forecasts of how the world is changing, and what pieces of the puzzle we can be in the grand scheme of things.

When I say piece of the puzzle, i really mean what part you will play in the story of the continuation and learning of humanity and the universe. It doesn’t matter if you don’t play a part in working for your country, or serving the national interest, or being a good citizen.

I mean look deep into yourself, into your true self and hear the voice inside that want to get out, and listen to what that aspect of yourself wants to do. That is what you are here to achieve. Everything else is just a funny play put on by bad actors.

Terrence Mckenna used to say, when people asked him what they should do with their insights from entheogenic or spiritual transformation, “find the others.” In groups ideas have the medium they need to evolve and compete.
