The human condition is an existentialist term for the experience of being a human in the world.

It us kind of a weird, undefined term that one hears a lot but never really pins down the exact meaning of. To me it speaks of the sum totality of the experience of all of us on this planet, and how it is all tied together. The human condition is the way we percieve the world, and our experience of living in it.

It almost seems like a problem that needs to be solved, as we try to work out the primary purpse of
how and why we are here, and what are we supposed to be doing individually and collectivly while we are alive.

This core question has been a keystone to religion and mysticism, as well as nationalism and even imperialism.
So ask youself. Why are you here, and what are you meant to be doing.

How do all the identities that you hold on to interact and influence the ideas?

What was your original purpose before culture implanted it’s own Memes into you?

I am really seeing beyond the usefulness of completely rational viewpoints at the moment.

What we think of as rational thinking has got humanity so far, but there are so many problems that we face in the future that will need more than just a ‘business as usual’ approach. If we keep on the same course as we are travelling currently then things will change, for the worse. We have hit the limits of growth; resources that our current civilisation depends on are running out (like oil and drinking water). I think we have got to a point where we can’t think ourselves out of the problems we face.

What has been the ‘right thing’ for humanity to do over the past few thousand years (growth, technological advancement, scientific worldview) has now turned out to be the thing that will hold us back. We are slaves to forces bigger than ourselves (business, government) which are beyond the control of just one person, and have a momentum and inertia all of their own, and serve their own interests, not that of the collective people that make them up or the wider society in general. The ‘right thing’ now is to not continue on a crash course with inevitability, but to power down, re-invent ourselves and find other things to keep our monkey minds busy with instead of the systematic turning of petrol into people, resources into dollars and people into slaves.

We need to focus on new problems or perhaps no problems at all. The indigenous people of the world don’t see the world as a problem that needs to be fixed. The live in it, they work with it. They are not against it. They have a logic that is not our hierarchical, structures and modelled view of controllable pieces that we own.

The real truth arises. It does not have to justify itself. It does not have to be economically viable, or fit in with the latest trends, or be consistent with a pre-existing ideology. It just has to be. I feel a real need to break out of my rationalist thinking, which is based on dominator culture morals and value judgements, and to explore reality with an open mind and heart. The real truth is the right thing to do. It is what neo-pagans might call dancing with the goddess. It is what Buddhists might call appropriate action. It is knowledge and conversation of the holy guardian angel, and knowing your “true will”

It is the thought that arises from nowhere, without precedence or reason, to give you knowledge or change your course of action. The quiet voice in the back of your mind that always knows the right thing to do, no matter how hard the rational part of your brain tries to squirm around it and find the loopholes.

Its the voice that tells you that you are wasting your life with that job, that you are wasting a beautiful day staring at a screen rather than out enjoying life.

That’s the voice that humankind needs to listen to . To break the glamour’s of technology, domination, hierarchy and selfishness to realise that we are all in this together.

This site is all about my exploration on the nature of reality, human civilization and consciousnesses. Here is just a random sample of some of the things you might find me talking about here.

How do we know the things we know. What is the direction of modern science? What are some of the more fascinating viewpoints and theories that are currently being discovered? What is my opinion on this.

What role does the ideas of information theory have on areas such as consciousness, genetics, time, consciousness and the fabric of reality

How is our understanding changing about topics such as UFO’s, Aliens, Shamanism, The Occult, meditative spiritual practice, psychedelics, ghosts, cryptozoology. Why is there so much overlap between these subjects? What are the commonalities and differences.

Why is there such a wide range of paranormal entities encountered and described. Why are there very few set ‘types’.

Is there a connection between ceremonial magick ’summoned’ entities and modern spontaneously encountered entities.

What is the role of the signal and noise principal in enlightenment and understanding of reality.

Some notable thinkers whose views that I will pick apart and discuss at some stage will be Ken Wilbur, Krishnamurti, Robert Anton Wilson, Terence Mckenna, Jacques Vallee, Gurdjeff, Jed Mckenna, buddhist texts, vedanta texts, tarot symbolism, occult books and libers.

I won’t claim to come up with any answers at all, and I will relate some of my experiences along the way. All we can be at best is mirrors pointing towards the truth. The real truth is the eternal spiritual mystery, the no-thing at the center of all things.

Oh yeah, and I am always up for a chat via email at info (at) informationreality (dot) com

I wrote briefly in one of my previous posts about the idea of an unquantifiable reality.

The idea comes from the fact that our mind constantly narrows the stream of input it receives down to conceptions, definitions, and categories.

It allows our mind to manage the massive complexity of modern life, make predictions, decisions and inferences about what is currently happening. We have evolved this way for a specific purpose, and humans have been doing it back when we all lived in caves or the wild grassland of prehistory.

Our minds treat objects not as they are, but as abstract categories of things. Men are treated with a certain subset of behaviours, women with another. We treat all physical objects as if they are the idea and not the thing. Bowls are treated all the same, as are knives, or fridges, or televisions.

But really I think that life is at a base level unquantifiable. All things seek to transcend their definition, and concrete descriptions break down when you turn up the resolution, and look at life in wider or closer detail. The harder you study what defines a certain thing, the more you see the diversity within the category it is contained within.

It’s a hard concept to get our minds around, but our every thoughts about a certain thing are not about the real things themselves, but about our internal concept of what that thing is.

The rise of modern civilization and capitalist systems depend on people working like this, because when you can quantify a thing, person or place, it allows you to put a hard value on it.

What price can be put on an hour of your life, or a finite resource like oil or water quality which is the common good of all. What price can be put on the land inhabited by a people for thousands of years, and their culture? It would be impossible to do without a narrowly defined value placed on it, by maiing quantities out of things that should be free.

It just can’t be done unless the quantisation is taken to the extreme levels we see today, where everything is a commodity, and there can be decisions made.
