This is where I go when I don’t care about the word and the consequences of my thoughts. This is me digging my own reality tunnels in both virtual and psychographic space.

The hermit used to disappear into the wilderness to find enlightenment. To live without interaction with others, so that his thoughts and intentions were not being changed by his interactions with the world of culture. He was not withdrawing from the ‘real world’ at all, just the illusory one that we call civilization, and all of the games that go along with it.

He didn’t want to be around with people because each were meme spreading machines, spewing forth contagious pathogens of ideas with every sentence. Hermits wanted to connect to the pure source of thought, the natural arising that occurs in our brains when the memes have nothing else to feed on, and no help of being spread across to another host. It is the ideas inside us that drive us towards doing things we don’t want to do, and propagating the civilization that we know is killing the natural world. The hermit lives right there in that natural world.

The veil has been dropped, and he is now truly alive, purging each mind virus (and there would be many) as they spring to the surface. Every story when the hero goes away from the tribe/people, off into the wilderness to ‘conquer his demons’ or an externalised source. That is this story. He conquers that inside himself (the bullshit memes that control most of us) which has control of everyone else, and at that instant is transformed into something other. Someone who can look the beasts in the face and know that they have no power of him. It’s not only your traditional heroes that follow this narrative. Jesus and Buddha, to name two of millions over time that have walked this path were also prime examples. The conquered the inner chatter, the temptation to follow the script that life had given them and instead starting freeing others to see that they could write their own destiny, or at the very least write their own memes as well (like the eight fold path) into their consciousness.

Things like the eight fold path or the golden rule of the early Christians are like antivirus software for the mind. The allow checks to be made so that runaway memetic forces can’t get hold and take people over.

So any way… this is my digital hermits cave. Look at the paintings I make on the wall. They may make sense to you, they may not. Look at the shiny adsense temptations that I dangle before the unwary. This is a cave of wonders and secrets. It’s the place where it all spills out. It’s my psycho geography, muse and experience of the mystery all tied in one.

It is a place without consequence. Here I am lord and master. I can do as I want. The memes can’t get me here
